The 2007 May Daze chess tournament was held at Shamona Creek Elementary School in Downingtown, PA on May 5. 

There was a tie for first place between Ben Seligsohn (rated 654), a 5th grader from Benchmark, and 3rd grader Lucas Yonda (932) of Hillside.  Both players scored an undefeated 4-0.  Lucas prevailed in the blitz playoff, earning the first-place trophy.  Lucas has finished in the top 5 at quite a few tournaments this year, but this was his first tournament win.  Congratulations to him for a well-played tournament!

Rounding out the top five were Ithan Elementary 3rd grader Steven Chen (654) at 3.5-.5, Spring Ford Middle School 7th grader Kathryn Walsh (914) at 3-1, and 5th grader Troy Smith (664) of Beaver Creek Elementary at 2.5-1.5.

Beaver Creek Elementary of Downingtown won first place team with a dominating team score of 8.5 points.
