In Silver Knights Coding clubs, children in grades 2 and up learn to create stories, games, and animations using a visual programming language called Scratch. It’s as easy to use as snapping together building blocks! In this unit, kids will create their own art, animations, and adventures by using all of the Scratch 3 digital tools to make fractured fairy tales, choose-your-own-adventure games, and quiz games. Use the Silver Knights Curriculum to learn how to code and then take it to the next level with art and animated add-ons, avatars, and end credits. What’s your story?
With Scratch, children learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and reason systematically. Scratch is designed and maintained by the Lifelong Kindergarten group at the MIT Media Lab. Our curriculum teaches new coders the basics, while challenging more experienced coders to create increasingly complex programs. Silver Knights provides a laptop for every child. Plus each child takes home a USB with all their programs on the last day!
